The Lotus represents purity of the body, speech and mind, as if floating above murky waters. It submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning, sparkling clean. The process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment, with its daily process of life, death and re-emergance.

Chieko is an origami artist, who spent her formative years in Japan, and is now a wife and mum to two boys. She fondly remembers her fascination and enthusiasm for origami beginning at age six, when her father taught her to fold a paper crane.
Introduced in childhood, this ancient art form is a traditional part of Japanese culture. It is practiced to create functional objects gifts for loved ones, or simply for personal pleasure.
After establishing herself in Australia, Chieko realized what was important to her. She quit her job in the corporate world, deciding to focus on family life and pursuing her creative passions.
Chiekos hand crafted creations range from gift cards for all occasions, to home decor items such as framed three dimensional art works.
She sources authentic Washi papers directly from her contacts in Japan, and combines her intricately contracted objects with other techniques such as embossing and montage.
